The Colorado Rocky Mountain Chapter of NAPNAP was founded in 1983 with 25 members and at a time when the
American Academy of Pediatrics was not supportive of pediatric nurse practitioners (PNP). Past issues
NAPNAP has addressed within the community have included the "diaper debate", the nursing image as portrayed
on television, advanced practice nursing act, and recommendations for prescriptive authority. To date,
the chapter has over 100 members and is looked highly upon for the resources it provides to patients and
providers. Accomplishments include car safety instruction, involvement in the Colorado immunization coalition,
changing sports physical forms to permit for PNP signatures, and charitable donations to various organizations
around the world.
The Colorado Rocky Mountain chapter of NAPNAP continues to be a cherished asset to the community not only by
advocating for patients, their families, and pediatric nurse practitioners, but also by providing valuable
education and networking to all those who aspire to further their role and career.
